Raphaël Brunschwig (1984) joined the Locarno Film Festival in 2013 as coordinator of the event's partnership agreements. A year later, he became responsible for sponsorship. In 2016, he was appointed Deputy COO before being appointed Managing Director in 2017.
Brunschwig is responsible for the operational and financial management of the event. In this role, he is responsible for the Festival's network of public and private sector partners, as well as the development of the event's infrastructure and associated activities, such as the Festival Village "la Rotonda". Within the Festival, he oversees human resources, institutional relations and marketing and communications. In collaboration with the Artistic Director and his team, he also steers the strategic development of the Festival, with a particular focus on digital innovation and younger audiences.
Through his office, he is a member of various committees, such as the Executive Committee of the Conférence des festivals, the association that brings together the most important film festivals in Switzerland. Since 2021, he has been President of the Eventi letterari Monte Verità (eventiletterari.swiss), and in the spring of 2023, he was appointed President of Swiss Top Events (www.swisstopevents.ch), the association that unites the eight leading sports and cultural events in Switzerland and promotes their Swiss excellence worldwide.
He is also a member of the Board of the Eranos Foundation (www.eranosfoundation.org).
