Two nights of cinema unite this year's Locarno Film Festival and Fuori orario. Cose (mai) viste, the well-known and beloved cinematic archive on air in Italy on Rai 3 since 1988. Two shows to celebrate the films of internationally acclaimed auteurs filmmakers, supported and awarded by the Festival over the years, and that Fuori orario has brought to television screens all over Italy, as part of the nights of Rai 3.

The program will include a triple tribute, to Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet, to Otar Iosseliani and to Andrzej Zulawski.

On the night of Sunday, August 9, Italian television will show Cosmos (2015), the last film Zulawski made before his death, which won the Pardo per la migliore regia in Locarno, La madre (2012), a short film by Straub presented in Locarno, and Winter Song (2015), Iosseliani's most recent work, presented in the Concorso internazionale in Locarno two years after the Festival's tribute to him in Piazza Grande, in 2013, with the Pardo alla carriera.

The night of Friday, August 14, on Rai 3, is entirely dedicated to the cinema of Jean-Marie Straub, during which, in addition to Communists (2014), presented in Locarno, and Fortini/Cani (1976, co-directed with Danièle Huillet), Fuori orario will also feature unseen archive material of Straub and the Festival: the Pardo d'onore Manor he received in Piazza Grande in 2017, with footage shot by the director of photography and frequent collaborator Renato Berta; the round table of the same year, with speeches by, among others, Cinémathèque suisse founder Freddy Buache, Berta himself, Cristophe Clavert, another cinematographer of Straub, and actors Giovanna Daddi, Dario Marconcini and Astrid Ofner, the latter starring in the film Antigone (1992); Finally, a conversation with the Locarno audience in 1992, when Straub presented Antigone at the Festival, with Danièle Huillet.
